VegFest Is Almost Here!

So, for the past few months I've been helping plan the 2011 Worcester VegFest, and its almost here! Check out my Countdown To Worcester Vegfest posted on VegWorcester. With just 6 of us regularly meeting to plan an event for 3,000 people.. we've been busy. All the last minute preparations are taking place now though.. shipment of free samples, books, exhibitor confirmations, laying out of the space, and so on. We're measuring ceilings, counting chairs needed, cutting raffle tickets... you name it.

EcoVegan mock meat samples have arrived, and its difficult not to eat them haha! I received 2 sample boxes as well and was able to try cooking them up to see what might be the best method for VegFest sampling, and oh man.. they were sooo delicious. These aren't hippy nut burgers by -any- means, and will surely satisfy veggies and carnivores alike. I can't wait to eat more of these at VegFest.

Oh, and check out the freeeee books I won through a WorldWide Vegan Bake Sale promotion - My Sweet Vegan by Hannah Kaminsky! There are tons of vegan dessert recipes with awesome photos too. I'll be donating most of them to VegWorcester to sell at VegFest, but plan to make some recipes out of them to post here this summer.

With all the crappy hassle over food vendor permits and only a small handful of us kick ass peeps on the planning committee its been a little stressful the past few weeks, but it looks as though things are coming together.

VegFest is going to be freekin AWESOME and everyone better come out and eat tons of veg food or I will hunt you down and slap the shit out of you.      (back-dated)

Master Cleanse, Bold Native, Burnside Fountain...

It has been awhile since I've posted a yummalicious food entry here, but its mainly due to the fact that I always seem to forget to photograph and document all the veg goodness I encounter! This week however, my lack of documentation is simply because I'm doing the master cleanse. Hence, I am attempting to stay as far away from food-related activity as possible. It was not as easy tonight since I went to a film screening of Bold Native, hosted by VegPolytech here in Worcester and they had tons of free vegan snack-age. I skipped the snacks this time (which is hard cuz we all know I love free vegan food,) and drank my lemonade instead.

By the way, if you haven't seen Bold Native, they are planning on doing a second screening sometime this Spring after the VegFest comes and goes, so hopefully a bunch of people will come out for that. You can see trailers and more info here: http://www.boldnative.com

So... here I am at day 6 of the master cleanse... I'm happy to be past the half-way mark. I am doing the original Stanley Burroughs version and this will be my third experience with it. I've been baking and cooking a ton since having my own kitchen and unfortunately it has taken its toll, so hopefully the cleanse will help give me a re-start again so I can get back to eating more raw foods.

I'll definitely be making an exception to enjoy some tasty grub at the next Burnside Fountain Pop-Up dinner this coming Saturday though. They are having a lunch and dinner seating this time. I'll be finishing up my cleanse that day, so I'll start with some OJ in the morning and a light salad in the afternoon, and then do the vegan dinner that night. I'm especially looking forward to the asparagus-leek soup and foccacia!

Off to drink my tea!
